During armed conflicts, the constant violations of human rights and the principles of international humanitarian law affect women exponentially. For this reason, it seems logical that they play a prominent role in the reconstruction of post-conflict societies. The United Nations Organization (UN) has made a great effort to actively involve women in the recovery of communities affected by wars and other disasters, the truth is that female representation in the bodies responsible for restoring peace is rarely egalitarian. Specifically, after the last war in Afghanistan 2001-2021, women have been totally excluded from the reconstruction work, at the same time that they see how day by day their situation even worsens compared to the period of foreign occupation. Not only the UN as guarantor of world peace and security, but also the international community as a whole, should always demand the equal participation of women in post-conflict processes, insisting especially on those territories where they suffer the violation of their rights on the ground of their sex.
