Els manuals escolars del franquisme

Abstract

Iniciada la Guerra Civil Espanyola (1936-1939) el bàndol nacional es va adonar de la importància de l’educació i, per tant, també dels manuals escolars com a instruments d’adoctrinació de la població. Era necessari guanyar l’enfrontament bèl·lic, però també inculcar uns valors que servissin per justificar la guerra i sustentar el sistema que acabés imposant-se. Aquesta preocupació dels insurrectes es va traduir en l’aniquilació de l’obra educativa realitzada durant la República, la depuració del cos docent i la implantació d’un model d’ensenyament catòlic, patriòtic, militarista i tradicional. Finalitzada la guerra, l’escola va continuar sent un escenari fonamental per la difusió de principis ideològics i el contingut dels llibres escolars va seguir controlat per impedir que s’introduïssin conceptes dels anomenats pel règim com a dissolvents.
