Abstract

La institució esportiva del waterpolo representa un espai de formació i competició per a nens i joves. En l’espai “waterpolístic” es produeixen un seguit d’hàbitus i pràctiques que condicionen els cossos dels jugadors i els modelen. La construcció dels cossos dels participants no s’escapa a una estructuració de gènere que abraça el model binari entre allò masculí i allò femení. La comunitat creada en aquests espai funciona com un univers masculí per als seus participants, on la masculinitat es creada i venerada col·lectivament. Tanmateix en l’ univers masculí que es crea al voltant del waterpolo existeixen una sèrie de requeriments i necessitats que cada individu ha de complir per a poder accedir: marcadors corporals i mecànics. Això produeix que els jugadors que estan situats en la perifèria de la masculinitat hegemònica produïda són menystinguts i tenen molts conflictes per a la seva acceptació i participació en el joc. El present article vol analitzar la construcció corporal en aquest col·lectiu i com els infants viuen els canvis i conflictes que sorgeixen del seu cos.
