Accesibilidad de fórmulas matemáticas

Abstract

Este proyecto se centra en el ámbito de la accesibilidad en formulaciones matemáticas. En concreto, hemos analizado la capacidad de un software, InftyReader, especializado en el reconocimiento de contenidos matemáticos. Este software es un OCR (Optical Character Recognition) que permite procesar documentos matemáticos proporcionando como resultado código HTML+MathML (Mathematical Markup Language). MathML se considera como el lenguaje más adecuado para crear contenido matemático accesible. Una vez realizado un estudio exhaustivo de las posibilidades que una herramienta como InftyReader proporciona al profesorado de matemáticas, hemos creado una guía docente en la que explicamos cómo digitalizar y cómo generar documentos accesibles con InftyReader. Finalmente, utilizando también InftlyReader, hemos evaluado la potencial accesibilidad de un conjunto de páginas Web con contenido matemático. Entendemos por potencial accesibilidad la propiedad que tiene un documento no accesible de convertirse en totalmente accesible o en el peor de los casos parcialmente accesible mediante una herramienta especializada. Para hacer esta evaluación hemos creado un posible modelo de indicadores utilizando el lenguaje de la Web Semántica EARL (Evaluation and Report language). Con el resultado de estas evaluaciones hemos creado un repositorio de los informes resultantes. Estos informes podrán ser consultados por aquellos usuarios interesados en conocer la potencial accesibilidad de dichas páginas.
