[spa] Se investiga si el hiperinsulinismo de la cirrosis hepática es consecuencia de un aumento en la secreción pancreática de insulina o de una disminución en su metabolismo hepático, bien sea debido a la alteración hepatocelular o a la existencia de derivaciones sistémicas que obvian el paso de la sangre portal a través del hígado. Se evalúan la existencia de mecanismos de insulin-resistencia. Se concluye sugiriendo que el hiperinsulismo de la cirrosis es consecuencia de las alteraciones hemodinámicas y la insulin-resistencia posiblemente un mecanismo compensador.
