This paper is a review of the field known as "computer-supportedcollaborative learning", presenting its potential advantages and some of its problems. It analyses the types of tasks that are well designed for collaborative activity, in an attempt to find genuinely interdependent tasks rather than mere subtasks that follow each other. Finally, the article mentions difficulties encountered in conceiving collaborative learning as a zone of proximal development in the context of a group.
