Un nou lloc

Authors: Vélez Martí, Pere;
Abstract

[eng] Un nou lloc is a series of short films inspired by the songs of Amaia Romero, exploring themes such as mental health, love, and identity. The project is rooted in an emotional connection with the artist's music, which uses honest and direct language to break down barriers between creator and audience. With this proposal, pop music becomes a tool to normalize conversations around mental health, subverting its traditionally commercial use. In doing so, the genre is transformed into a channel for raising awareness and representing often-silenced realities. Through a fusion of cinema and music video, the song lyrics are turned into intimate audiovisual narratives, where music serves as a guiding thread. Pop aesthetics play a key role: the art direction, with a strong focus on color and costume design, reinforces the message and builds a coherent visual identity. Un nou lloc embraces innovative forms of cultural consumption that, while using the system’s conventional codes, aim to amplify voices and bring visibility to essential topics such as mental health and identity diversity—turning pop into a transformative and empathetic platform.
