Abstract

[eng] This final degree project analyzes the contributions of gamification as an innovative methodology for teaching English in the early years of primary education. Gamification has established itself as a strategy aimed at increasing student motivation and participation, although its suitability and specific effectiveness at this educational level remain unknown. The research is based on a qualitative study involving university professors specialized in gamification and primary school teachers who have implemented this methodology in the classroom, through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The results indicate that gamification enhances learners’ motivation and engagement, although its effectiveness largely depends on adapting to the preferences and interests of the children. Likewise, it is necessary to achieve a balance to avoid potential frustration, and a thorough understanding of the students is essential prior to its application. Finally, this research demonstrates that gamification can be an effective tool to support English language learning in the early years, although further investigation is recommended to expand knowledge about this methodology in different educational contexts.
