Juegos repetidos

Abstract

The central theme of this work is the study of repeated games, focusing the bulk of the research on the different ways in which players (make decisions and) choose their strategies throughout the game, depending on whether the horizon is finite or infinite. To this end, a general study of normal-form and extensive form games is conducted. Within the chapters dedicated to this topic, we include the study of the elements that constitute these games, the two types of strategies that can be adopted, and the Nash equilibrium. The model of repeated games addresses the existence of a discounted factor, which reflects how important the future payoffs are to players and how patient they are. The discounted factor is also a fundamental element in repeated games with infinite horizon, as it can determine if cooperation is sustained as equilibrium. Finally we will explore the Folk Theorems, some theorems informally known by mathematicians and economists back in time. These theorems demonstrate that, under certain conditions, any feasible and individually rational payoff vector can be sustained over time as a Nash equilibrium.
