El cine es desde su comienzo un arte transmedial, en un sentido doble. El primero de ellos atiende a su técnica: el cine es transmedial porque en él el profílmico –o sea todo lo que queda delante de la cámara para ser grabado–, así como la escritura literaria que proporciona (a veces) la materia narrativa, o la dramática que rige la arquitectura de sus acciones, abandonan su volumen, trazo o presencia viva y adquieren la forma y la sustancia de otro medio.
