La presencia de los mitos clásicos en la imagen de la Monarquía española en los siglos XVI y XVII . Su presencia en palacios, la Galera Real de Lepanto y el arte efímero

Abstract

En este trabajo se abordará la temática del uso de la mitología en los discursos de poder de la monarquía española en el conjunto de sus territorios. El trabajo se centrará, sobre todo, en la época de la Contrarreforma. Específicamente, se analizará el reinado de Felipe II y el de Felipe IV con diversos ejemplos que se explicarán a continuación. Se ha elegido a la casa Austria por el papel tan importante que llegó a tener para recoger los tópicos propagandísticos iniciados por el emperador Carlos I, y que adaptó, modificó y mejoró para dotar a su casa real de un renovado uso de poder en el que sustentar la corona y su imagen pública. Para lograr el objetivo del trabajo se analizará la presencia de los mitos clásicos en la cultura escrita, así como también en diferentes colecciones artísticas que fueron reunidas por príncipes, eclesiásticos, nobles y otros grupos sociales que se pudieran hacer con obras de las características y temática explicadas.
