Cap a una apicultura urbana sostenible

Abstract

L’apicultura és una pràctica que es troba estretament relacionada amb el territori i que necessitaria ser abordada des d’una òptica espacial. Arran de l’augment de la preocupació social per la reducció del nombre d’abelles i altres pol·linitzadors, diferents disciplines han abordat la qüestió des dels seus respectius camps d’estudi, però hi ha un buit en recerca, sobretot més de conjunt entre la matriu biofísica i antròpica. El meu interès inicial per les abelles sorgeix des de fa temps vinculat al poble rural de Morella on vaig passar part de la meva infantesa. És un poble d’apicultors on, actualment, només queda una persona que s’hi dedica. Es tracta, doncs, d’una motivació personal per entendre la complexitat social d’aquests insectes i la seva vinculació amb l’home i el territori. Al llarg de l’estudi acadèmic durant el grau universitari, ha sorgit encara més l’interès per aprofundir en aquesta temàtica. La geografia com a ciència multidisciplinària, doncs, és capaç d’abordar-la de manera privilegiada a través de l’estudi de l’espai, òptica la qual es considera que manca l’estudi de l’apicultura. De fet, en tant que les abelles es troben en una constant interacció amb tots els elements del paisatge al seu abast, la geografia esdevé una eina fonamental per al seu estudi, del seu ecosistema, la seva gestió i la relació amb l’home. Recentment, les noves publicacions i l’ús de la tecnologia brinden importants avenços, tot plegat ha motivat la redacció d’aquest treball. Em centraré en l’activitat apícola que es desenvolupa en l’àmbit metropolità.
