Panoràmica divulgativa del món bibliotecari espanyol en el marc de la celebració del 59è Congrés de I'lFLA a Barcelona, l'agost d'enguany. Se n'apunten els precedents històrics i se'n descriu l'organització actual. S'ofereixen algunes dades bàsiques sobre la lectura pública, les biblioteques escolars, universitàries, especialitzades i de recerca, així com sobre la Biblioteca Nacional. En cada cas s'analitzen el marc legal, l'estructura, els desenvolupaments tecnològics i els programes de cooperació en curs. Finalment, s'esbossen les línies generals d'evolució del mercat de la informació i es descriuen breument la formació dels professionals i les seves associacions.

Divulgative view of the Librarian world in the framework of the 59th IFLA Conference celebration in Barcelona, in August 1993. Historical precedents are pointed out and the present organization is described. Some basic data about public school, academic, special and research libraries as well as the National Library are included. In each case, the legal framework, the structure, technologic developments and the cooperation programmes which are going on are analysed. Finally, general points of the information market evolution are outlined and the training of both professionals and their associations are briefly described.
