Abstract

[es] El concepto de finanzas cuantitativas parece, en sı́ mismo, redundante ya que las finanzas se basan, por su puesto, en cálculos. Sin embargo, en las últimas décadas dicha área de trabajo ha virado hacia un conjunto de métodos y modelos matemáticos empleados en la gran mayorı́a de sectores financieros. Para la realización de un adecuado estudio sobre el desarrollo de esta rama y más concretamente de la volatilidad, nos basaremos en Mayhew (1995) [18] y Corcuera (2021) [4]. El camino histórico de las finanzas cuantitativas ha avanzado siempre de la mano de las matemáticas y sus continuos avances. A medida que dicha ciencia avanzaba, sus conceptos eran introducidos y empleados en el mundo financiero. El auge normalmente se ubica a principios de la década de los setenta, cuando Fischer Black, Robert Merton y Myron Scholes publicaron sus estudios (véase [2]) basados en instrumentos financieros, los cuales servirán de eje central en este trabajo.
