Aportes feministas al futuro de la ciencia de datos

Abstract

Gracias a la producción de datos a gran escala, múltiples e impensados aspectos de nuestra vida se hacen visibles o permanecen ocultos. Además, los datos tienen implicancia en el desarrollo de las sociedades y en el control de estas. Aún cuando abundan las perspectivas críticas a la producción del conocimiento científico, por sus pretensiones de neutralidad, objetividad y ausencia de contextualización de los datos, buena parte del desarrollo científico aún asume estas características. La ciencia de datos y el big data reproducen estas premisas y las amplifican, debido a la producción y manipulación de datos y sus múltiples usos y efectos, que se expanden más allá de la producción científica, en ámbitos productivos, empresariales, estatales. La perspectiva feminista -plural, transversal e interseccional- aporta nuevas categorías de análisis para entender cómo operan los procesos de exclusión y desigualdad hacia las identidades femeninas, identificando causas e implicancias en distintos aspectos cotidianos. Los aportes construidos desde el feminismo de datos relevados y sistematizados en este trabajo arrojan luz para identificar efectos negativos en el desarrollo actual de la ciencia de datos: los sesgos en la producción de los datos, la brecha de datos de género y la exclusión de las mujeres y diversidades como fuentes, productoras y receptoras del conocimiento. Abonan en el desarrollo de una ciencia de datos con efectos positivos sobre la inclusión en clave de género, con propuestas conceptuales, metodológicas y aplicativas.
