Diversity has become an intrinsic part of society and, therefore, also of education. This bibliographic work presents some of the adaptations and supports offered to students with disabilities or mental health disorders during their time at university, since the difficulties these students face when pursuing higher education still represent a major barrier. The analysis of student services addressed to students with special educational needs at universities in different geographic areas evidence that there is a steady progress towards more inclusive universities. Based on this research, a comparative study has been carried out among six universities (European, Anglo-Saxon and North American) in order to detect the strengths and weaknesses of the Inclusion Program of the Faculty of Chemistry of the UB. This program is intended to serve as a guide for other faculties of the University of Barcelona.
