Abstract

Una de les principals amenaces dels boscos de Catalunya, i que es preveu que empitjorarà amb el canvi climàtic, són els incendis forestals. Al voltant d’un 10% d’aquests incendis són causats per llamps; per aquest motiu seria interessant poder identificar les descàrregues i tempestes amb més probabilitat d’acabar generant un incendi per tal de reduir la seva incidència en el territori. Amb aquest objectiu en ment, aquest treball analitza les descàrregues elèctriques i les tempestes associades als incendis de llamp esdevinguts a Catalunya durant els anys 2012-2018. D’una banda, s’han estudiat les característiques dels llamps (polaritat, multiplicitat i intensitat del corrent de pic), però s’ha vist que no presenten trets diferencials a la població general de llamps i, per tant, són poc útils per identificar els llamps més perillosos de causar incendis. D’altra banda, s’han analitzat diverses característiques de les tempestes (velocitat, durada, longitud del recorregut i reflectivitat). Aquesta anàlisi mostra que les variables més útils per identificar tempestes amb més probabilitat de generar incendis estan estretament lligades a la quantitat de precipitació associada. Aquestes tempestes acostumen a ser ràpides i bona part de les descàrregues es produeixen als estadis finals de la tempesta, per la qual cosa no hi ha aigua suficient per apagar una possible ignició. També s’ha vist que el 58% de les descàrregues que causen incendis estan associades a reflectivitats radar inferiors a 35 dBZ.
