Joan Estelrich i l’Expansió Catalana.

Abstract

The article introduces the important work of Joan Estelrich in projecting the Catalan national problem to the outside world between the years 1919-1926. It places special emphasis on the translation of the works of Catalan culture into other languages, paying significant attention to those in Italian. Within this framework, the relationship between this Catalan intellectual and the Italian Cesare Giardini is explained. Going over the collection of letters sent between the two of them, the text describes the years in which two important works were translated: La Nacionalitat catalana by Enric Prat de la Riba, and Entorn al feixisme italià by Francesc Cambó. Within this context, the piece reflects on and critizices the hystoriographic interpretations that have seen the Cambó experience as that of an author close to Fascism.
