Abstract

O presente texto é o resultado do estudo preliminar à tradução ao castelhano da obra de Wayne Morrison "Criminología, Civilización y Nuevo Orden Mundial". O artigo pretende realizar uma revisão dos fundamentos epistemológicos da criminologia contemporânea, indagando acerca das razões que a levaram a edificar-se como um saber seletivo e discriminador na modernidade e questionando por que a criminologia esqueceu, negou, evitou a investigação de vários eventos de atrocidades massivas que foram cometidos durante o século XX, em verdadeiro "apartheid" criminológico. A história recente da criminologia mostra que, apesar de haver vivido as atrocidades massivas que as ditaduras e os conflitos armados produziram durante décadas, esta disciplina não pôde, por distintas razões, desenvolver um conjunto de ferramentas analíticas que pudessem explicá-las e que contribuíssem a preveni-las, limitando seu papel à denúncia moral das ordens repressivas e da barbárie das guerras civis internas. Para reflexionar sobre essa constatação, o presente trabalho percorrerá a história e as tendências contemporâneas dos estudos criminológicos sobre crimes de Estado, genocídio, zemiologia (o estudo do dano social) e crimes dos mercados e proporá, ao final, a ruptura dos limites epistemológicos atuais para a continuação do debate acadêmico e a promoção da ação política.
