Nausica com a model femení

Abstract

Els poemes homèrics, Ilíada i Odissea, han estat els textos didàctics per excel·lència a l’antiguitat clàssica, ja que proporcionaven als homes antics uns models de conducta basats en l’honor i la justícia. Però també les dones rebien per aquest mitjà models negatius i positius de com havia de ser una dona. A l’Odissea els models negatius els representen Calipso i Circe, dones, no humanes, que feien vida fora d’un nucli familiar i que a més es mouen pels seus propis desitjos (AGUILAR, 1996). D’altra banda, un model positiu és el de Nausica, la filla del rei dels feacis Alcinous. De fet, aquesta donzella s’ha considerat un dels personatges més adorables de l’ Odissea d’Homer, ja que el seu seny i la seva tendresa porten a l’heroi a un lloc segur i posa fi a les adversitats amb les que es troba durant el seu viatge. La jove apareix per primera vegada al cant VI de l’Odissea. És la deessa Atena qui la va a buscar per que ajudi Odisseu a refer-se després del seu naufragi. Però la deessa no fa aquest manament directament a la jove, sinó que disfressada d’una noia de la seva mateixa edat se li apareix en somnis per recordar-li que ja té edat per casar-se i ha de fer els preparatius. En concret, ha de tenir els seus vestits i els de la seva família nets per tal de mostrar a la comunitat les seves habilitats i les seves aptituds per aquesta unió. Nausica és una parthenos, una adolescent que ja te edat per contraure matrimoni i deixar enrere la infantesa. Sap que ha arribat aquest moment i no dubte en mostrar que vol complir amb la voluntat familiar, en els seus diàlegs es mostra conscient del canvi que ha d’experimentar i disposada a trobar el millor candidat (Alberro, 2005). Tot i la seva joventut ja recull les virtuts que contenen les dones homèriques com ara la bellesa, l’obediència al pare i a la divinitat, la castedat i virginitat o la diligencia. Precisament, un bon exemple d’aquesta obediència als deures amb els deus és als versos 199-210 quan la donzella es troba a Odisseu a la platja i, tot i la vergonya de trobar-se amb un adult despullat, compleix amb el seu deure d’hospitalitat i ordena a les seves serventes alimentar-lo i vestir-lo.
