Abstract

[eng] The objective of this project is the study of the cartography produced in Majorca during the 14th and 15th centuries, especially the Catalan Atlas, a masterpiece attributed to Cresques Abraham. It consists in the analysis of the elements that helped the appearance of cartography in Majorca, their characteristics, the use of the portolan charts and the main Majorcan cartographers. Also, it is analyzed the differences in opinion between cartographic specialists with respect to whether or not the nature of the named Majorcan School was scientific or only artistic.
