Abstract

Objectives: the aim of this study was to determine which research support services are offered by university libraries to teaching and research staff. In addition, the goal was to summarize the situation of research support services in Catalonia. Method: the research was based on a web questionnaire given to university library directors. The questionnaire was validated by specialists in the methodology of these research tools and by university library professionals. Results: the research results are highly representative as they outline the situation in all Catalan university libraries. Publically and privately owned libraries had different positions on many on the aspects under study. We revealed a need for action on research support services, to adapt them to the characteristics of each institution's research teams.
