Abstract

La escuela debe ayudar a formar ciudadanos competentes para desarrollar y participar en la sociedad. Esto es un reto tanto desde la concreción y desarrollo de los contenidos curriculares como desde la metodología educativa. Para que haya un verdadero aprendizaje competencial, y siempre desde una concepción sistémica de la competencia, la metodología de trabajo debería cumplir algunos requisitos mínimos. El aprendizaje servicio (APS) es una metodología que une el aprendizaje y el servicio a la comunidad en un mismo proyecto educativo. Sus características coinciden en gran medida con las necesidades metodológicas de un aprendizaje competencial, como la integración de conocimientos, la funcionalidad de los aprendizajes, la contextualización, el incremento de la autonomía, la participación e implicación personales. La APS es una metodología idónea para que haya un aprendizaje competencial, pero además porque integra escuela y comunidad y, para que desde una concepción global de la competencia, es una buena práctica de aprendizaje de competencias con una implicación y compromiso social.
