Abstract

(eng) The increase of right-wing populist parties since the 80's, has been one of the most studied issue by the researchers, looking for causes and consequences of this boom. Little has been paid to the case of Spain, a country where this parties are almost no existent. Therefore, following the 10 major theses of emergence of these parties from the theories of supply and demand side, the phenomenon of this failure in Spain will be analyzed from the historical, political and sociologically point of view. The center of the argument is that knowing that there is demand for these parties, which factors have prevented it. The main thesis will demonstrate that the supply factors, especially the political and cultural context have prevented the rise of the new right-wing parties in Spain. Also, I will demonstrate quantitatively that there are enough peoples with anti-immigrants attitudes in Spain so that a right-wing party could emerge, as it has been the case in other countries. The thesis that until now had been given as valid to explain the lack of these parties in, will be contrasted with the 10 theses. I will demonstrate that for example the thesis of the youth of Spanish democracy or Francos legacy are ,in contemporary Spain, not any more an impediment for the emergency of right-wing parties
