Angioplastia coronaria transluminal percutánea

Abstract

En 1964 Dotter y Judkins describen el primer caso de dilatación transluminal periférica, siendo siendo Gruentzig el que introduce la angioplastia transluminal percutánea periférica mediante un catéter balón. En el año 1977 este último autor publica el primer caso de angioplastia coronaria transluminal percutánea, adquiriendo una experiencia de 50 pacientes en el año 1979. Hasta abril de 1981 han sido realizados, como mínimo, y recopilados por el National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute de EE.UU. 1.500 pacientes en 73 hospitales.
