Fluctuaciones míticas: las sirenas de Gamaliel Churata

Abstract

En la obra titulada Resurección de los muertos (2010), el escritor Gamaliel Churata reescribe el tema prehispánico de las sirenas para hilar una representación de lo femenino que fuertemente lo diferencia de la escritura vanguardista Europea e Hispanoamericana. En este trabajo se analiza cómo este tema permite al escritor trascender los marcos patriarcales occidentales y cuestionar las jerarquías de género que subyacen a la filosofía occidental. El tema prehispánico de la sirena, en su imbricación con la mitología occidental, vehicula un sistema de género-otro que se asienta en la reciprocidad andina entre masculino y femenino y halla su raíz en las antiguas sociedades matriarcales americanas y europeas. Las sirenas indígenas de Gamaliel Churata, fuertemente enlazadas a las culturas ancestrales, se convierten en imágenes necesarias para superar la disyunción social e histórica entre cultura/naturaleza, razón/cuerpo, sujeto/objeto.
