During the Imperial period, in the town of Nora the most attested type of house is characterized by a central yard, with a well at the centre. The entrance, or fauces, opens on the street flanked by a couple of shops and, in the case of main streets, preceded by arcades. Walls are often decorated by frescoes. After the edification of the aqueduct, occurred around the 150 AD, this kind of plan is substantially the same, but there are now some larger buildings and floors are frequently decorated by mosaics. In the 5th century, we can notice a radical change: the new, smaller houses have a central yard too, but now occupied by productive spaces, with presses, ovens and stables.
