Italian students often choose to study Spanish convinced as they are that it will be an easy task and also because Spain is one of the favourite tourist destinations for Italians. However, stereotypes of Spain as a mix of Latin music, paella and sangria, etc. can lead to several cultural misunderstandings. This study aims to highlight the cultural distance between Spain and Italy, stress the need to attune to other cultures and understand and respect differences by focusing on the contrast between the linguistic, cultural and pragmatic levels in the tourism sector.
