The aim of this clinical research was to evaluate the use of diode laser in surgical treatments of oral and gingival epulis. This clinical study has been conducted in three dental clinics on a sample of 38 subjects, 13 of which had systemic immunodeficiency. This sample has been compared to a group of 56 subjects, showing the same oral lesion, treated by conventional surgical treatments. For both group the same research protocol and clinical follow-up schedule were chosen. Clinical results at short and long term were good. The diode laser surgical treatment of pyogenic granuloma of oral mucosa and periodontal tissues has shown a reduction of infective complications, a shorter recovery time interval and a significant diminution of relapses. In patients with HIV, HBV and HCV infections, the results of the research were similar to those obtained in patients without any viral infections.
