Un'esperienza di "Dog Assisted Therapy" in RSA

Abstract

Obiettivi.

Objectives. This report illustrates the case of a 90 years old guest of a nursing home who complained of chronic migrant widespread pain with no apparent cause and resistant to analgesics. The patient was also suffering from depressive symptoms mainly isolation. Methods. The initial use of tools for assessing cognitive and affective documented a preservation of cognitive functions and sensory. The elderly often complained of loneliness and feelings of anxiety to chronic pain. Results. During 3 months of dog assisted therapy, the patient talked about her suffering for the death of relatives and friends and blamed epilepsy for not being able to marry, have a family and children. Through the narration of episodes the overall mood, the desire to express and to relate have improved. Conclusions. DAT has facilitated the establishment of a therapeutic relationship and rehabilitation within the space offered by the transactional relationship with the dog.
