Studio clinico azitromicina versus minociclina

Abstract

L’obiettivo primario del presente studio multicentrico randomizzato di fase III è quello di dimostrare la non-inferiorità dell’azitromicina sistemica verso la minociclina sistemica nel trattamento di pazienti affetti da acne intermedia/grave. L’end-point primario è la valutazione dell’efficacia attraverso la scala Global Acne Grading System (GAGS). L’end-point secondario è la valutazione del miglioramento della qualità di vita utilizzando la scala di Leeds (acne score and quality of life QoL). Sono stati randomizzati per lo studio 118 pazienti (1:1) e trattati con azitromicina 2 g/settimana SR (n=58) o minociclina 100 mg /die (n=60) per 8 settimane. La variazione della scala GAGS alla fine del trattamento non è stata differente nei due gruppi di pazienti [least squares mean –8.69 (95% confidence interval [CI]: –10.33 to –7.05) and –9.16 (95% CI: –10.62 to –7.71). Questo dato dimostra la non inferiorità della azitromicina nei confronti della minociclina. Non è stata registrata altresì una differenza nel miglioramento della qualità di vita nei due gruppi di pazienti alla fine del trattamento.
