El imbunche: una figura mítica fundamental en la narrativa chilena

Abstract

Este libro traza un mapa de los mitos prehispánicos presentes en la narrativa latinoamericana hasta los años setenta, y analiza las obras de Miguel Ángel Asturias, Alejo Carpentier, José María Arguedas, Augusto Roa Bastos, Miguel Ángel Menéndez, Gamaliel Churata, Juan Rulfo, Julio Cortázar, Mário de Andrade, Rosario Castellanos, Carlos Fuentes, Elena Garro, José Donoso, Manuel Scorza y otros. Cada entrada por autor y obra consta de una parte descriptiva y de una valoración crítica de acuerdo a los problemas planteados, que se refieren muchas veces a las contradicciones coloniales en las que la cultura antigua sufre una fractura y llega al mundo letrado sólo indirectamente, pero también a la potencia semántica y literaria de cada mito. Así, para cada autor estudiado se tienen en cuenta las fuentes de las que procede su conocimiento del mito y el grado de cercanía o lejanía de estas fuentes con su primera enunciación, así como las relecturas más o menos interesadas del mito que se dan en esas fuentes y su presencia, tras la conquista, en imágenes y discursos sociales construidos sobre el mismo. En mi texto trabajo sobre la figura mítica del imbunche, que se revela fundamental para entender la identidad chilena. Analizo su papel y su presencia desde la fundación de la narrativa chilena hasta nuestros días.

This book carries out a mapping of the prehispanic myth in spanish american litterature til the Seventies. It analyzes works by Miguel Ángel Asturias, Alejo Carpentier, José María Arguedas, Augusto Roa Bastos, Miguel Ángel Menéndez, Gamaliel Churata, Juan Rulfo, Julio Cortázar, Mário de Andrade, Rosario Castellanos, Carlos Fuentes, Elena Garro, José Donoso, Manuel Scorza ed altri.In my essay I work on the central figure of "imbunche" thoughout the history of chilean litterature.
