L'eredità Callas

Abstract

This book provides a comprehensive analysis of Maria Callas' career as a singer-actress, showcasing her collaborations with various directors throughout her Athenian years up until her encounter with the renowned Pasolini. From Gerardo Guerrieri to Alberto Savinio, from Luchino Visconti to Franco Zeffirelli, from Margherita Wallmann to Tatiana Pavlova, from Franco Enriquez to Alexis Minotis: Callas listened to their indications and advice, attempting to reframe them based on her own viewpoint and know-how. She scrutinized and refined each recitative detail, gesture, and movement in exhaustive rehearsals, just as she did on the spoken stage. The exceptional power of her interpretations stems from the seamless integration of vocal performance and dramatic expression.
