[Extract] An estimated 1.5 million Australians suffer (9% of the population) with sleep disorders and 775,000 people have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea (Deloitte Access Economics 2011). Sleep disorders and their associated health complications cost the Australian health care system at least $818 million in 2010 according to Deloitte Access Economics (2011).
