Abstract

Le fibre muscolari sono soggette al fenomeno dell’ipertrofia, cioè all’incremento del loro diametro trasverso. Tale fenomeno è soprattutto dovuto alla proliferazione dei materiali contrattili di base: actina e miosina. L’ipertrofia è una conseguenza naturale di uno stress esterno imposto tramite l’allenamento. Il fenomeno biologico opposto, causato dalla mancanza di attività fisica o da insulto traumatico di tipo osteo-artro-muscolare, prende il nome di ipotrofia. La cellula muscolare contiene differenti componenti, ognuna delle quali apporta un contributo alla dimensione totale del muscolo e richiede un carico di allenamento specifico.
