The devil and the demons are true co-stars of Antonio’s Life. Their most fearsome weapon is to be able to create phantasiae able to mislead their victims and arouse shocking passions. The article focuses on this aspect of demonology, highlights its peculiar features both with regard to the previous Christian tradition, both with regard to the stoic concept of phantasia and suited to that the rhetorical concept of phantasia is able to better explain the thought of Athanasius on diabolical phantasiae. Il diavolo e i demoni sono veri coprotagonisti della Vita di Antonio. La loro arma più temibile è quella di essere in grado di creare phantasiae in grado di trarre in inganno le proprie vittime e suscitare passioni sconvolgenti. I’articolo si focalizza su questo aspetto della demonologia, ne mette in luce i tratti peculiari sia riguardo alla tradizione cristiana precedente, sia riguardo alla concetto stoico di phantasia e ritiene che il concetto retorico di phantasia sia in grado di spiegare meglio il pensiero di Atanasio sulle phantasiae diaboliche
