Abstract

Dato il pregiudizio che la letteratura latinoamericana sia qualcosa di magico realista, lo scrittore argentino Manuel Puig (1932-1990) - avulso da tali suggestioni – è rimasto in Italia uno scrittore di nicchia. Ed è con sorpresa che il lettore scopre, grazie a Puig, come la narrativa di quel continente possa essere assemblata con fatti concreti del quotidiano – conversazioni casalinghe, articoli di giornale, pagine di diario, verbali di polizia, canzonette, B movies –, come i collage di Andy Warhol, i film di Tarantino... In una parola, che la letteratura latinoamericana è, anche, insospettabilmente pop. Chiunque si occupi di narrativa latinoamericana sa, invece, quanto gli scrittori odierni si collochino proprio nel canone di cui Puig è ignaro precursore. I saggi qui riuniti affrontano la natura eterodossa dell’opera di Manuel Puig, rispetto alla Letteratura e al Cinema declinati con la maiuscola. La sua scrittura è stata a suo tempo censurata in Argentina, le sue idee sul cinema considerate frivole, l’innovazione della sua tecnica narrativa fraintesa, i suoi romanzi scambiati per paraletteratura. Perché Puig era fuori luogo e fuori tempo, ovvero troppo avanti.
