Abstract

La ricca vita musicale che caratterizzò il ducato (poi regno) sabaudo sin dai decenni immediatamente successivi all’insediamento della corte a Torino si accompagnò, specie a partire dal Settecento, alla fioritura di botteghe artigiane che resero la città uno dei più importanti centri europei impegnati nella produzione di strumenti musicali. Il contributo delinea i caratteri generali del settore, che seppe esprimere costruttori di fama internazionale (in primis i liutai Guadagnini e Francesco Pressenda) e, più a ridosso del nostro tempo, non ebbe timore – come nel caso della F.I.P. (Fabbrica Italiana Pianoforti), nata nel 1917 – di cimentarsi nell’agone industriale: un settore dinamico e creativo che ha fornito strumenti musicali a migliaia di professionisti e dilettanti e ha regalato pezzi di pregio oggi conservati nei musei e nelle collezioni di tutto il mondo, a testimoniare l’ingegno, le capacità tecniche e la forza innovatrice delle botteghe artigiane e delle manifatture di una città e di una regione (Torino e il Piemonte) da sempre caratterizzate da un’accentuata vocazione produttiva.
