Abstract

Machiavelli, Cellini, Tasso, Marino, Ciro di Pers, Leopardi, Manzoni, Cesare Cantù, Arrigo Boito: a questi autori della nostra letteratura sono dedicati i saggi qui riuniti per la prima volta in volume. In ciascuno di essi Paolo Paolini dispiega le risorse di una fine sensibilità e di una cultura assai agguerrita, analizzando forme e procedimenti stilistici, tracciando insolite mappe, assumendosi la piena responsabilità di giudizi storici ed estetici. L’individuazione della specificità di ogni scrittore va sempre di pari passo con la delineazione di una trama di rapporti, di riprese e di anticipazioni assai ramificata, non di rado sorprendente. Chiude il volume un saggio su Wölfflin e la storiografia letteraria, che ci invita a riflettere sull’uso e sull’abuso di categorie ancor oggi proficue per illustrare il passaggio dal Rinascimento al Barocco.
