Abstract

In Italy the role of entrepreneurs has become a subject for historians only in recent decades. The history of the Italian economic miracle is in many respects the history of entrepreneurship in all its shapes and sizes which reflects the permanence and consolidation of family business in Italy. It provides new elements for consideration and judgment that lead historians to revise the idea of entrepreneur as a figure changing over time, by geographic areas, industrial sectors and firm size.
