Abstract

Il s'agit du cancer de la peau le plus fréquent. Comme l'explique le Pr Bita Dezfoulian, hormis le cas où la tumeur est déjà à un stade trop avancé, les carcinomes basocellulaires nodulaires et superficiels sont, en règle générale, relativement facile à traiter. "Une première réserve doit toutefois être émise concernant les tumeurs localisées dans la région périorbitaire, les plis nasogéniens ou dans le voisinage du conduit auditif externe. Pour ces tumeurs, il faut tenir compte de deux facteurs de de complication : d'une part, leur relative inaccessibilité les rend beaucoup plus difficiles à exciser et, d'autre part, on a constaté qu'elles étaient souvent plus invasives et infiltrantes. Ensuite, certains sous-types de carcinomes basocellulaires, plus agressifs, nécessitent une chirurgie beaucoup plus importante."
