The present article is a retranslation attempt of a Fulani Mbooku Poem previously translated by Paul Eguchi (1992). The aim is to give a rebirth to this endangered oral literature and to contribute to the development of oral African literature in relation to translation studies. The retranslation is carried out from the perspective of functional approach to translation studies. Therefore, the 'skopos' of the retranslation is literary and aesthetic.
