Abstract

Se comenta sobre la importancia de los bosques y plantaciones forestales en elcontexto actual, así como el uso de madera y sus derivados a nivel mundial ynacional. Se indica que en Costa Rica se han realizado grandes esfuerzos porestablecer plantaciones forestales y que dos terceras partes del territorio del país son de vocación forestal; por ello se hace un llamado para que los sectores maderero y construcción asuman el reto de hacer uso de este valioso recurso en forma sostenible y responsable.
