Efecto del almacenamiento sobre semilla de Brachiaria decumbens tratada químicamente para interrumpir la latencia

Abstract

Se evaluó el efecto del almacenamiento durante 12 meses sobre la viabilidad de la semilla de Brachiaria decumbens previamente tratada para interrumpir el período de latencia natural posterior a la cosecha. Los tratamientos se seleccionaron con base en un trabajo anterior y fueron: 1.- H2O por 2 horas, 2.- H2O por 6 horas, 3.- H2SO4 por 8 minutos, 4.- KNO3 0,8% por 2 horas, 5.- KNO3 0,8% por 6 horas, 6.- H2SO4 por 8 minutos + KNO3 0,8% por 2 horas y 7.- H2SO4 por 8 minutos + KNO3 0,8% por 6 horas. Los resultados iniciales mostraron un aumento significativo de la germinación con respecto al testigo únicamente en los tratamientos 6 y 7. Durante los meses siguientes la germinación en los tratamientos testigo (1 y 2) fue aumentando paulatinamente, aunque se detectó que la inmersión por 6 horas, ya fuera en agua o en KNO3 ocasionó un deterioro más rápido en la semilla. Después de un año de almacenamiento los tratamientos 4 y 5 habían alcanzado los mayores porcentajes de semillas germinadas seguidos por el tratamiento 1, mientras que los valores más bajos se obtuvieron con los tratamientos 3, 6 y 7, lo cual es atriibuible a un efecto retardado del H2SO4.
