Abstract

J. curcas es una especie de importancia medicinal. Las hojas, la corteza y la semilla han sido utilizadas popularmente para aliviar inflamaciones, para el combate de hongos y como agentes antimicrobianos. Se emplea en la industria de fabricación de tintas y colorantes por sus propiedades como astringente y como fuente de aceite. Esta variedad de usos se debe a la presencia de diversos compuestos como enzimas proteolíticas, presursores de hormonas esteroidales, alcaloides, taninos y flavonoides. El trabajo de investigación consistió en establecer el protocolo de cultivo in vitro de embriones de Jatropha curcas y la propagación masiva in vitro de las microestacas producidas de la germinación in vitro. El medio de cultivo empleado fue el de las sales y vitaminas M&S (1962), con 3% de sacarosa. La adición de reguladores en el medio indujo la formación de callo y variación somaclonal. Se inocularon segmentos de hoja en un medio de cultivo que contenía el 50% de las sales de M & S (1962), complementado con las vitaminas de Morel (1958), 2mg/L de AIB, y 1% de sacarosa, se colocaron en la oscuridad y se obtuvieron callos friables efectivos para el establecimiento de suspensiones.
