Abstract

Este estudio tiene el propósito ded obtener parte de la información necesaria para evaluar el uso potencial del líquido piroleñoso, que se produce como subproducto de la carbonización en la madera. Para ello, se evaluaron propiedades fungicidas y antitérmicas del líquido piroleñoso. Con respecto a las propiedades fungicidas, pruebas micológicas in vitro parecen indicar un nivel de toxicidad adecuado al líquido piroleñoso frente a hongos pudridores de madera, similar al encontrado en informes de la literatura. A pesar de que también se realizaron pruebas in vivo, para evaluar la eficiencia fungicida del líquido piroleñoso, un problema de contaminación impidió sacar conclusiones sobre su nivel de toxicidad. En relación con las propiedades antitermíticas del líquido piroleñoso, se demostró que las muestras de madera preservada con ese líquido mediante el método de baño caliente y frío, tuvieron una regular protección ante el ataque de insectos.
