Arrastre en un estuario fuertemente estratificado

Abstract

Se usa la ecuación de conservación de masa unidimensional en un estuario de profundidad y ancho uniformes, de dos capas de diferente salinidad, para cuantificar el efecto del arrastre de la capa inferior marina a la capa superior de agua dulce. Se muestra la enorme variación inducida por el arrastre en el campo de las velocidades horizontales verticalmente homogéneas en cada capa, que a su vez debe influir en el valor de los coeficientes de dispersión longitudinales aumentándolos grandemente. También se muestra cuantitativamente la alteración de la salinidad en la capa superior de agua dulce. Las ecuaciones resultantes se resuelven para el estado de equilibrio usando métodos basados en diferencias finitas explícitas y se establece un criterio empírico para solucionar el problema de la estabilidad y la convergencia de las aproximaciones a las ecuaciones diferenciales usadas.
