Eficacia del vendaje funcional en el síndrome femoropatelar

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar la eficacia de la aplicación terapéutica del vendaje funcional en el Síndrome Femoropatelar (SFP) Material y Métodos: Se realiza una revisión sistemática en las bases de datos Medline, PEDro y la Biblioteca Cochrane de estudios publicados entre el año 2003 y 2010 en lengua inglesa o española, realizados sobre sujetos diagnosticados de SFP con sintomatología presente y sin patología o cirugía previa del miembro inferior afectado. Se excluyen aquellos que no aportan datos específicos sobre los efectos provocados por el vendaje funcional. Resultados: Siguiendo la estrategia de búsqueda comentada anteriormente se obtienen 11 estudios de los que se extraen los siguientes resultados: 6/11 apuestan por el alivio del dolor, 1/11 refiere mejoría en la propiocepción en individuos con una pobre propiocepción, y hay más discusión en cuanto a la mejora de la actividad del vasto medial oblicuo (VMO) con 2 a favor y 1 en contra, y en la alineación de la rótula con 1 a favor y 1 en contra. Conclusiones/Discusión: El vendaje funcional parece aliviar el dolor y mejorar la propiocepción en pacientes con SFP, y puede que mejore la contracción del VMO y la alineación de la rótula. No obstante los resultados obtenidos no son estadísticamente representativos y se necesitan más estudios al respecto para comprobar su eficacia.
