[Abstract] We propose the possible existence of two different alkaline associations in Galicia, one being bimodal and the other, represented by the Galiñeiro alkaline complex, unimodal and oversaturated. The geochemical features of this complex are consistent with the characteristics of anorogenic subvolcanic massiís worldwide. These rocks can be ascribed to the Al type defined by EBY according to their y /Nb ratio. This is also consistent with the Zr/Nb ratio. The anomalously high content of REE and sorne trace elements and their geochemical behaviour can not be explained by simple differentiation models, this may indicate the participation of sorne kind of late to postmagmatic metasomatic (fenitization?) processes.
