Magmatismo basáltico hercínico tardío en el NW de Servilla

Abstract

[Resumen] En la regi6n de Castilblanco de los Arroyos, al Norte de Sevilla, afloran, en estrecha relación con la fracturación hercínica tardía, dos grupos de rocas básicas: los diques diabásicos de Castilblanco de los Arroyos y los basaltos del Viar. Los diques se disponen siguiendo las citadas fracturas y su emplazamiento corresponde a la o las etapas de relajación que siguieron a los movimientos de desgarre de estas fallas. Los basaltos del Viar constituyen coladas dispuestas principalmente en la base de la cuenca del mismo nombre, y extruyeron a favor de las fracturas que, actuando en régimen de fallas normales, conformaron el asiento de esta cuenca postorogénica. Petrográficamente, el rasgo más distintivo (texturas aparte) entre estas rocas es el olivino, mineral abundante en los basaltos del Viar y casi inexistente en las diabasas. Química y petrográficamente, ambos tipos de basaltos presentan carácter intermedio toleítico-alcalino, si bien los basaltos del Viar son más ricos en sílice y su relación potasio sodio es doble que la de las diabasas. Otros investigadores han sugerido, a partir del estudio de haces de diques diabásicos en la provincia de Cáceres, muy semejantes a los aquí descritos, que este volcanismo podría presentar una polaridad N-S relacionable con un orógeno ortotectónicoi sin errbargo, los rasgos de estas rocas nos parecen apuntar más bien a basaltos fisurales de regiones ya estabilizadas
